I started CrossFit 3 years ago because Tom and I were going to peak a 14,000 foot mountain in Colorado. A friend of mine who new about CrossFit recommended CrossFit Champions. We stopped by to ask questions. Attended a Friday and a Saturday Class. Then we were in the elements class and we haven’t missed much in the three years.
I had been running for years but adding CF to my workout routine has changed my whole physique. I had never lifted weights before and now I really enjoy deadlifts. I have not mastered the dead hang pull up but I am getting closer. I enjoy the friendships I have made in my class. We encourage one another during the workout. I can start using my medicare card on July 1 because I am turning 65. Sixty-five sure sounds old but CF is helping me stay younger.

Thanks,
Nancy

Dear CrossFit Champions,

2011 was a rough year for me. I spent nearly six months living on an island and vessels in the middle of nowhere, Russia. With low quality food and no exercise (they were little boats), by September I had lost all my muscle strength and replaced it with 30lbs of fat. Disgusted, I signed up for my first marathon.

I’d always wanted to run a marathon, sort of a bucket-list goal, but recurring blisters and pain in my knees and ankle had kept me from going after it. To go from couch to marathon in 3.5 months, I knew I had to create some sort of brilliant, non-conventional training program. I chose CrossFit. My plan: get as strong as possible, lose weight (eat clean), spend time on my feet- run occasionally, walk a lot. I joined CrossFit Champions in November 2011 and began training. M/W/Th – CrossFit; Tues/Sat – 6 mile runs, occasionally longer; M-F – 3 mile walks during lunch. I remember how difficult that first walk was, my feet ached and my legs burned; And during my first few runs (scaled down to 2-3 miles) I had to walk after only a few minutes. The beginning was not fun (now I know why people say they hate running), but over time it got better.

To prevent injury, I never ran more that 12 miles during my training (even that was pushing it. I only did it once about a month before the race), but I pushed myself hard at CrossFit. No one believed my training program would be enough, but I felt confident. On race day (March 3, 2012) I was thrilled by how easy the marathon was! Not once did I feel fatigued, no “hitting the wall”, no exhaustion. It was easy! Add the snacks I brought with me (to help refuel every 30 minutes- sweet potatoes and dried mangoes) and a friendly pace group, it felt more like a social hour than a race. Great experience. My time: 4:41.

Hey, CrossFit works.

Since then Wendy has done a triathlon…

My foot feels great. I wore tennis shoes all day Thurs and Friday and massaged the heel every chance I got. Still a little tight, but no pain before, during or after the race. The CB&I Triathlon was fun. #7 of 26 in my age group (25-29). Training: 2 days/week CrossFit with Pam, (1) 1/2-mile open water swim at lake Conroe, (2) 6-mile bike rides (against the wind).

I love CrossFit!

Dear CFC trainers, owners and Crossfitters
Went to the doctor yesterday for my annual physical – He danced a jig when he saw me – 12 months – 47 pounds lost and 5 dress sizes – No more blood pressure meds, no more triglyceride meds, no more cholesterol meds. No more pre-diabetes – it is official – I am healthy -( well except for my calf )
I still need to lose some more weight and build more muscle but I’m a completely different person than I was a year ago. I think I would have given up if it were not for people encouraging me at every point… Just think where I’ll be next year !!
Thank You All !!!!

*warning – uncensored!

Okay so I’ve been coming to the Torture Chamber…err…CFC for a year now. Time sure flies when you’re Crossfitting. Simply put, I love the place. I also hate the place, but I must love it more because I show up every morning to the House of Pain to for a complete butt kicking. One great thing about CFC is no one laughs at me when I screw up, which is often. The other great thing is I can finally do a handstand (wobbly, but I can hold it for a bit)! I also love the people/trainers. I wish to GOD I could do a real pull up. Oh! And a real push up would rock my hamstrings! I know this will come eventually, but I’m not very patient. I was in church last Sunday with my husband and the pastor was talking about giving ourselves a day of rest, like God intended. I turned to Kevin and said, “I know exactly how to make that happen.” He said, “Are you going to give up Crossfit?” I looked at him with a face that said ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? and said, “Of course not!” My hips hurt, my shoulder is aching, but saints alive, I love CFC! You guys are awesome. Thank you for bringing your dream to life.

1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Cumin
1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper

Brown ground beef, drain fat, then add taco seasoning and 1/4 Cup water. Heat for 5-10 minutes.

Awesome workout tonight. I’m always happy when my form is good, and even more happy when I can hit that wall of what I think I can do and push a bit past it. Now I’m riding an endorphin high.
I spend every day at work angry and miserable due to the various human obstacles preventing me from doing the job I love to do. All I can think about all day is getting to my Crossfit workout so I can “relax”. I’m officially addicted.
Some attack or mock that obsession or addiction. I’ve always felt that obsessing over any activity that takes the place of other activities in life is unhealthy. Not only is this such a small time commitment (I work out 30 to 45 minutes three times a week), but it makes all other activities in life so much better. I wish everyone I cared about could try this out.
